Apostle Islands boat excursion planned in August
The Apostle Islands in the Bayfield area will be the destination for an overnight trip Aug. 21 and 22.
The group will be stopping for a tour at the Stormy Kromer Mercantile in Ironwood, Mich., where they manufacture the Kromer cap.
After the tour, the group will head to Ashland where lunch (included) will be served and then a step-on tour guide will lead a tour of Ashland’s 13 wall murals throughout the downtown area.
The group will stop at the AmericInn for the night where a buffet dinner (included) will be served.
After a continental breakfast (included) in the morning, the group will head to Bayfield for the about three-hour Apostle Islands cruise that winds its way among the islands, past historic sandstone quarries, fish camps, Lake Superior shipwrecks, and the historic Raspberry and Devils Island lighthouses.
After returning to the dock, the group can explore the many shops in Bayfield as well as the Maritime Museum. Maps of Bayfield will be provided.
The cost for this getaway is only $194 per person (double occupancy). Space is limited. A $50 deposit will hold a space (deposit must be received within 10 days of making reservation) and several payments on the balance can be made.
Complete trip itineraries, registration forms and trip policies are on the trip board in the lobby of the Senior Center (in the hallway by the restrooms).
