Viewpoint: Some government agencies not worth the cost
Editor:
Most of our governmental agencies could cease to exist and we would hardly notice because they seem to do nothing but take taxpayer dollars to support themselves. We are on both state and federal “no call” registries, yet get unwanted phone calls daily and are told nothing can be done to stop them.
A more important issue is the recent influx of hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants, many just children, allowed to enter our country and the president asking for billions of dollars to handle the problem. With all our spy technology, how could these children supposedly walk 1,000 miles from Central America without being noticed until they were in our country. How did they get through Mexico without help to show up on our doorstep?
We don’t have enough productive jobs for our own citizens and Obama wants us to provide for every illegal. He and his family are using his office to serve as a super-expensive travel service to see the world while accomplishing nothing which benefits America.
Another example of an agency asleep on the job was shown on a 60 Minutes TV expose’. The Social Security Administration failed to investigate an attorney to whom it paid fees of $13 million over a seven year period in a scam where he signed up healthy adults to claim disability benefits. How many others are doing the same thing?
Instead of reducing the size and cost of big government, an article reported Obama has expanded it more than all previous presidents combined, racking up the tremendous debt. He should have taken some economics courses or read the Biblical warning “before you start to build, count the cost.” It is ludicrous to suggest Americans can spend our way out of the debt this administration has piled up. The truth is the “spending” we do will be paying huge tax increases.
