From the Coordinator: Share your talents
The School District of Rhinelander’s Community Education Program continues to offer Lifelong Learning classes for area citizens. What is lifelong learning? Lifelong learning is defined as the provision or use of both formal and informal learning opportunities throughout people’s lives in order to foster the continuous development and improvement of the knowledge and skills needed for employment and personal fulfillment.
In other words, we should never stop learning.
The Community Education Program offers classes in several categories. 1) Home and Hobbies–some examples include cooking, gardening, sewing and jewelry making; 2) Personal and Family Well-being–examples include fitness classes such as yoga and Zumba, as well as dog obedience classes; 3) Community and Culture–examples include informative presentations and music concerts; 4) Outdoor Recreation–examples include skiing and canoeing; 5) Financial Health–examples include resume writing and job readiness; and 6) Academic Enrichment–examples include computer classes and book clubs. Classes are not limited to the above categories. We are always looking to expand our class offerings.
Lifelong Learning classes are currently being planned for the fall and as always, we are looking for community members who are willing to share their special skills and knowledge with others. Through the Community Education Program, instructors are paid to educate and enlighten their fellow citizens. Lifelong Learning classes benefit the individual and the community in many ways. In addition, they present an opportunity for people in our own backyard to share their talents and make a little extra money doing it.
If you have a particular passion or skill, and would like to be paid to share it with the general public, contact me by phone at 715-365-9745 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org to set up a meeting.
Pay is negotiable. Fall classes will be planned throughout the summer and I hope to promote the offerings as early as late August. Please do not hesitate to contact me with your ideas.
