Northwoods Lean to host presentation on health equity
The Northwoods LEAN (Linking Education, Activity, and Nutrition) will present host Kelly Moore, MD, FAAP, Wednesday, July 9 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for a presentation and discussion on health equity.
The event will be held at Hext Theatre, 25 S. Brown Street, Rhinelander.
This session will explore the importance of health equity and the key roles that local leaders must play in realizing a vision of healthier communities.
Dr. Kelly Moore is an Associate Professor at the Colorado School of Public Health of the University of Colorado Denver with the Centers of American Indian and Alaska Native Health. Dr. Moore is a retired Captain in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps with 20 years of service to the Indian Health Service (IHS). Her research interests include urban Indian health, childhood obesity, and youth-onset type 2 diabetes.
From 3:30 to 4 p.m., there will be a brief Northwoods LEAN coalition update. At 4 p.m., the presentation and discussion with Dr. Moore will begin. After the discussion, an optional networking event will be held from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. with complimentary appetizers (beverages will be available for purchase).
