Registration still open for Hodag Run For Your Life
The YMCA of the Northwoods will host the 8th Annual Hodag Run for Your Life 5k Run/Walk and 10k Run Saturday, June 28.
The race is presented by Superior Diesel and Habush, Habush and Rottier Charitable Fund. The race will begin at 9 a.m. at Stevensport Square in downtown Rhinelander and will conclude at the same location.
Scott King, from NRG media will be onsite to announce the event.
Now in it’s 8th year, the race attracts hundreds of area residents and summer visitors to the area. The awards ceremony at 10:30 a.m. will award custom Hodag medals to the top three male and female finishers in each age bracket. All 10k runners must be finished by 10:45 a.m. to be included in the results.
The top overall male and female finishers in each race will receive the special coveted Hodag Award. The 5k race is open to all ages while the 10k race is open to individuals ages 14 and older.
A free youth race, Rhinelander Kiwanis’ Chase the Hodag, takes place at 10:15am, with more than 200 youth ages 12 and under chasing Rhinelander’s Hodag around the Oneida County Courthouse and back to Stevensport Square. The first 200 registered youth participants will receive a free Hodag Run For Your Life T-shirt along with a souvenir numbered race bib.
Youth race registration will only be race day this year and will open at 7:30 a.m. Parents are encouraged to run with their children, push them in a stroller, or carry them on their shoulders.
The race benefits the Y’s Annual Support Campaign which ensures that no one is turned away from the Y due to lack of ability to pay. Preregistration has closed but runners can still register online or at the Y for $35.
Group rates are also available. Groups of 10 or more are only $30 per entry; group registrations must be submitted together to receive this rate.
