Students advance in Helen Mears art competition

As a result of the Helen Mears Art Contest last month, those students who placed in the top three categories moved on to the district judging.

The following James Williams Middle School (JWMS) students placed first and second, allowing them to move on to the state competition this past weekend.

The two winners who went to state in Class A Sculpture were: 1st Place-“Gru” by Elizabeth Glut, and 2nd Place-“Coil Pot” by Stephanie Schoone. Two Winners going to State in Class B Drawing were: 1st place-“Serpants Lair” by Gabe Morken and 2nd Place-“My Big Old House” Abigail Johnson.

At the state competition, Elizabeth Glut took first place in Class A sculpture. Her piece, “Gru”, will now go on exhibit at the Oshkosh Public Museum for the summer exhibit.
