The Nicolet College Board of Trustees named Kenneth Urban Interim President of the college during a special meeting of the board Monday.
Urban will begin those duties July 1, the day after current President Elizabeth Burmaster ends her tenure in that position.
“Dr. Urban has a strong working knowledge of day-to-day operations and the long-term direction of Nicolet College,” said Deanna Pierpont, chair of the Board of Trustees. “He has served as Vice President of Teaching, Learning, and Student Success at Nicolet for the past four years and has all of the skills necessary to lead the college during this time of transition.”
Burmaster is returning to her hometown of Frederick, Md., where she has been named President of Frederick Community College.
She has been President of Nicolet College since 2009.
“The board would like to extend its sincere appreciation and gratitude to Libby for her years of service to Nicolet and the people of the Northwoods,” Pierpont added. “She is an extraordinary leader who will be greatly missed. We wish Libby all the best in her new position as President of Frederick Community College.”
The board will soon begin a nationwide search to select a new president of Nicolet College.
