On Saturday, May 10, at approximately 1:31 p.m., the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a missing 15-month-old at a residence located at 4648 River Bend Road in the Town of Pelican. The mother was outside with the child, along with a sibling. The mother went inside to change over the laundry and came right back outside and could not locate the one child. The Pelican River runs along the backyard of the residence.

Oneida County deputies, Rhinelander Police Department, Pelican Fire Department, Newbold Fire Department, Oneida County EMS, Oneida County Dive Team and search dogs were dispatched to the residence. An Oneida County deputy located the child in the river downstream from the residence at 2:05 p.m.

The child was immediately transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital and was pronounced dead at 3:03 p.m. The child has been identified as Kaleb Kennedy. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Office are continuing their investigation.
