Gene Ahlborn Memorial Scholarship applications being accepted
The Plum Lake Library announces that they are accepting applications for the Gene Ahlborn Memorial Scholarship.
This scholarship was established in memory of the late Gene Ahlborn, who founded Ahlborn Equipment, Inc. in Sayner. He turned this small business into a worldwide distributor of chainsaw and lawn and garden equipment.
The scholarship is open to permanent residents of either Vilas or Oneida County, who will be full-time students at Nicolet Technical College for the upcoming academic semester. Individuals who will be entering fields that would fit with the Ahlborn Equipment mission will be given special consideration.
These areas of study include: accounting, welding, business, marketing and information technology.
Last year the scholarship committee awarded five scholarships. The 2013 recipients were Alissa Anderson, Tony Bellman, Todd Olson, Holly Peitsch, and Lacey-Lyn Statezny.
More details about the scholarship requirements and criteria, as well as the scholarship application, can be found at the Plum Lake Library website, sayner.wislib.org. Applications can also be obtained by stopping at the library.
The deadline for submission is June 2 at 5 pm with no exceptions.
