Business Close-up: Tee up a good meal at Mulligans

You don’t have to be a golfer to enjoy the tasty fare that Mulligan’s Restaurant and Pub is serving up at the Northwood Golf course.

Just a few weeks ago, this restaurant opened for Friday night fish fries that include baked salmon and pan fried walleye. And for those looking forward to hitting a few rounds on this award winning course, the wait is almost over.

“We’re thinking of possibly opening for the season this Friday,” said Dave O’Melia, Mulligan’s manager. “But it will all depend on the weather.”
Weather aside, the food served at Mulligan’s is a perfect way to not only end a round of golf, but also after a hard day at work or play. The atmosphere here is relaxing, with a Northwoods feel where beamed ceilings lend an open and inviting ambience. There is a field stone fireplace for those chilly evenings and a full service bar where refreshing and thirst quenching drinks are served.

Tables are grouped invitingly and diners can view the 18th hole as golfers finish up their rounds. There are also a couple of outside decks for visiting, eating or just relaxing.

“Everyone is welcome,” said Dave. “You don’t have to be a golfer to come out here to eat and enjoy Mulligan’s.”

Once the course does open, Mulligan’s will be serving food and drink every day of the week, including the weekends.

The menu here offers a lot of choices. A favorite is the Mulligan burger which includes a hand formed patty with all the fixings. There is a wide selection of appetizers including sweet potato fries, chips and salsa, cheese curds and much more.

The sandwich menu includes a Caribbean Melt, a Philly Beef Steak sandwich, BLTs, ham and cheese, a fish sandwich and brats. Lighter fare is also on the menu including wraps and healthy but satisfying salads including a taco salad, an Asian chicken salad and a salad that includes ham and turkey.
Other entrees include smoked pork chops and Cajun chicken alfredo. Kids are also welcome and they can choose from their own menu.

Mulligan’s can also accommodate larger affairs including weddings, banquets, bridal showers birthday parties, and even Christmas parties as it can accommodate up to 125 people.

While the weather might be teasing golfers as far as getting out on the links, it’s warm and inviting inside Mulligan’s where everyone is welcome to enjoy some scrumptious food and good natured camaraderie.

Mulligan’s is the 19th hole at the Northwood golf course which is located at 3131 Golf Course Rd. off Hwy. 8 West. Currently it is open Friday nights from 4:30 to 9 p.m. for fish fries but it is expected to open within a week or so for the season. Then food is served starting at 10 a.m. every day. To find out when the course is open or for more information call 715-282-7692.
