Obituary: Joseph E. Baer

Joseph E. Baer, 76, of Rhinelander, died April 12, 2014 at the King Veterans Home near Waupaca, where he had resided since February 2013. He was born on June 5, 1937 in Rhinelander to Fred and Bernice (Hackett) Baer. Joe enlisted in the US Army in January 1956. He was rated Sharpshooter
and set physical fitness records during basic training at Fort Leonard
Wood. Joe is survived by his wife, Janet (Kelly) Baer; three daughters, Susan (Gary) Gee, Marilyn (Jim) Pekol, and Peggy (Russ) Kramer, all of Rhinelander, four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Lund and Bonnie Dye; and a nephew, Daniel Lund. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Carlson Funeral Home with Deacon Michael Harvey presiding. The family will receive visitors prior to the services on Thursday at the funeral home. (Carlson Funeral Home)
