Seminars to help property owners restore old buildings April 10
Finding the funds and the know-how to fix up old buildings can be a real challenge. Two free seminars taking place April 10 in Rhinelander by Mark Buechel, Wisconsin Historical Society senior preservation architect, can help home and commercial property owners navigate through their options.
“How Not to Ruin Your Old House” is scheduled for 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Rhinelander District Library in the basement meeting room.
“Show Me the Money: Rehabilitation Tax Credits for Commercial Property” will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. with time for questions afterward at Rhinelander City Hall, Council Chambers, second floor.
The evening presentation focuses on tax credits for historic buildings administered by the Wisconsin Historical Society. Information will also be available for rehabilitation tax credits for buildings built before 1936 that are not certified as historic. Combining state and federal tax credits could save building owners as much as 40 percent of expenses for structural and mechanical improvement.
