Walking up Main Street: Plenty going on at Downtown Rhinelander

You might think that is a quiet time for Downtown Rhinelander Inc. but it is not. Everything that happens this spring and summer is in full swing. Here is some of what we are working on.

The Hodags on Parade: We are once again going to have the mini Hodags and this year they will be displayed in the downtown area. For this project, we are currently looking for sponsorships and will be doing the call to the artists very soon.

The Flower Baskets: It is April when they are planted with help from Forth Floral and the Master Gardeners. These flowers make a big impact on the look of our downtown and I am asking you to please help. “Adopt A Basket” for a $100 donation the basket, soil, plants, fertilizer and gas/insurance for the truck is covered. Donate in honor of someone, or because you love flowers, or because you believe in Rhinelander.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade is Saturday, March 15th at 1:30 p.m. You can get your family, co-workers, or friends together and create a float or simply walk down the parade route in crazy costumes. Call Jack at 715-369-3030 to be a part of a much needed weather break event.

The 2nd Open House for Available Properties has tentatively been set for May 17th.  This project not only gives us a current list of what properties are available but last year it actually brought businesses downtown.  So if you or someone you know is thinking about opening up a business or moving a business this is the perfect time to check out what is there is in downtown.

Also being worked on right now is the Second Saturday in June Car Show. This year we will be honoring the 1914 Model T-“Lizzie’s Birthday Bash.” It is our goal to get 100 Model T’s to the show. If you are an antique car enthusiast or know someone give us a call. We could use your help in organizing the show.

We have been working on PotatoFest for months already. I hope you have it down in your calendar to attend this year’s–Saturday, Aug. 30. It will definitely be bigger, yet still free for the community to enjoy.

And one old piece business-Taste of Chocolate was a true success. Thank you to everyone who came out to not only enjoy the evening but visit and shop in the downtown.
