Northwoods Branch of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin is beginning its 2014 fundraising season with a kick-off Friday, March 7 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Days Inn (formerly Claridge Motor Inn) downtown Rhinelander.

The program will include remarks by former Big Sister Michelle Miller and a few rounds of “Family Feud” style information about Bowl for Kids’ Sake which will be held April 4 at 6 p.m. at Hodag Lanes.

Bowl For Kids’ Sake is an opportunity for co-workers, friends and families to connect with the community while making memories with team members. Every year a new theme is chosen for the event, this year it’s “A Bowl Through TV Land,” encouraging teams to dress up as characters from their favorite TV shows.

There will be bowling, games, food, music, prizes and a costume contest. All of the money raised at this event goes the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
“The response has been terrific with enthusiastic people forming teams,” Development & Marketing Coordinator Mary Kinnunen said. “On behalf of the ‘Littles’ and ‘Bigs’ who will be matched because of the bowlers, the sponsors, and the donors in communities across the Northwoods, thank you.”

Anyone interested in putting a team together is welcome to the March 7 kick-off, and team captains who attend and sign up their team will receive a long-sleeved team captain shirt. Lunch will be provided, so RSVP Kinnunen at 715-820-2633 or [email protected]
