Christian Women?s conference will be held in Rhinelander
The seventh annual Christian Women’s Steppin” Out Conference will take place Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8 at the Quality Inn in Rhinelander.
The Women’s Steppin’ Out Conference was created in 2008. After years of speaking at women’s conferences around the country and Women Aglow meetings, Dr. Cheryl Dixon felt that God was leading her to conduct a conference for the women of the Northwoods.
The first conference was held in Rhinelander, Wisconsin with approximately 125 registrants. In 2009, more than 200 women came from more than 40 cities in six states, including Alaska and Texas. Since then, the conference continues to grow as women from all walks of life come to get energized and hear teachings about the word of God.
This year, Dr. Dixon will be speaking on The Fruit of the Spirit.
“I want to teach women how to cultivate and develop the fruit of the Spirit so that their lives will be radically changed and they become more powerful daughters of God,” Dixon said. “It is our desire to be a blessing in the lives of women and to provide a safe place for women to come and be ministered to.” Dr. Dixon is an ordained minister with Dr. Mark T. Barclay Ministries. She is the recipient of an honorary doctorate in 2006 from Jameson Christian College. She serves as the co-pastor of Abundant Life Church in Eagle River with her husband, Dr. Gary Dixon.
Pastor Cheryl, as she is known, is also a singer, musician, and songwriter. She is the keyboard player and lead singer of a worship band in the Northwoods. Composed of singers, musicians and praisers, the Abundant Life Worship Team will be joining Dr. Dixon for both sessions. This team of musicians includes a lead guitarist from the Nashville Christian rock band, AFB; the lead singer and bass guitarist for the Wisconsin River Band, a professional drummer who spent his first 20 years in the secular music world; and a former guitarist with Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, Calif. Together with singers who work hard at developing beautiful harmonies, they usher in the presence of God.
Christian Singer, Christy Hamby will be returning from Katy, Texas to minister in special music. Christy and her husband, Jeremy, have led praise and worship in several states. She currently is involved in the children’s Ministry at Assembly of God in Richmond, Texas where she is a singer on the praise and worship team.
“We received so many wonderful reports and comments from people about last year’s conference,” Dixon said.
