Cooking is Fun series offered at YMCA
The YMCA of the Northwoods, Rhinelander, will be holding three “Cooking is Fun” classes. Each class is designed to further knowledge of cooking techniques while having fun sharing recipes, cooking and tasting.
The first class in the series is “Homemade Strudel” which will be held Monday, Feb. 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Instructor Carol Bolden has been making strudel the old fashion way for many years and will be sharing her recipe and technique for making this pastry. A strudel is a type of layered pastry with a sweet filling. This is a hands-on class with participants taking the dough, forming it and shaping it around the sweet fruit filling. Each baker will go home with a strudel ready to bake and enjoy. There will be samples at class to taste.
To allow time to purchase ingredients, enroll by Friday, Feb. 14.
Need to cook gluten-free? Or are just interested in how to cook without gluten? The second class in the series will help you. Dottie Reeder will be teaching a class Monday, March 3 from noon to 1:30 p.m. on “How to Cook Gluten-Free”.
Gluten-free eating can be challenging. But whether just learning to eat gluten-free or are trying to cook for someone who needs to eliminate gluten from their diet, this class will provide cooking tips, techniques and products that will help. Samples will be provided. Register by Feb. 28.
Dottie Reeder will return Monday, April 7 from noon to 1:30 p.m. to teach simple and fun techniques to decorate cakes. This is a hands-on class will feature practicing decorating techniques. Register by Friday, April 4.
The cost for each class is $15 for members and $20 for the general public.
