Rhinelander Swim Club Takes First Place
The Rhinelander Swim Club hosted its annual Freezin Season Invitational Jan. 11. Approximately 300 swimmers from the eight participating teams competed in the event and at the end of the meet Rhinelander swimmers came out on top, capturing the first place trophy.
Several swimmers contributed to that win by dropping five seconds or more in their individual events. Arianna Dimmick (10) took 5.94 seconds from her 50 yard Freestyle with a time of 53.36 seconds; Rhea Fernandes (11) took off 8.83 seconds from her 50 yard Breaststroke with a time of 59.85 seconds; Joe Fugle (10) dropped 9.52 seconds from his 50 yard Backstroke for a time of 1:02.79; Maria Heck (9) took off 6.09 seconds from her 100 yard Freestyle with a time of 1:31.77; Taylor Hollands (12) dropped 18.21 seconds from her 200 yard individual medley with a new time of 3:08.14; David King (11) took 7.82 seconds from his 50 yard Backstroke with a time of 51.45 seconds; Ava Lamers (9) dropped 12.92 seconds from her 100 yard individual medley with a time of 2:03.76 and 14.27 seconds from her 100 yard freestyle for a time of 1:46.75; Tucker Lindman (9) took off 5.73 seconds from his 100 yard individual medley for a time of 1:41.45; Houston Mathwig (10) dropped 5.36 seconds from her 100 yard Freestyle with 1:32.09; Madison Michel (6) dropped 9.20 seconds from her 25 yard Freestyle with a time of 41.90 seconds; Alexandra Pond (13) took off 5.34 seconds from her 100 yard individual medley with a 1:24.73; Hannah Rumney (10) dropped 19.35 seconds from her 50 yard freestyle with a time of 59.49 seconds; Carly Seidl (14) took off 11.10 seconds from her 100 yard individual medley with 1:23.96; Tes Shrader (10) took off 9.33 seconds from her 50 yard backstroke with 1:24.41; Emerson Swaney (8) dropped 9.06 seconds in her 25 yard butterfly with a 24.65 seconds; AnnaMarie Wood (10) took off 6.70 seconds in her 50 yard backstroke for a time of 59.86 seconds; and Garrett Younker (7)dropped 10.22 seconds from his 25 yard backstroke for a new time of 31.46 seconds.
RSC is coming to the end of the regular season with the last regular conference meet Saturday, Jan. 18 in Lakeland. Swimmers that competed in two conference meets during the regular season are eligible to compete in the Divisional Meet in Antigo the following weekend.
