Help bring the Wounded Warriors softball team to Lake Tomahawk

While the Lake Tomahawk Snowshoe Baseball season has come to a close, the team is anxiously looking forward to next year’s schedule. Not only because the squad will face its regular slate of opponents but because of a special event at the end of July.

The Snowhawks will host the Wounded Warrior Amputee softball team for a snowshoe game followed the next day by a regular softball game double header in Minocqua.

The national Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team (WWAST), represents some of our nation’s bravest and most determined heroes, soldiers and veterans. These young extremely athletic men have sustained severe injuries resulting in amputation while serving in the military/war, and through extensive rehabilitation, they have become competitive athletes again.

But the Snowhawks need help in getting the team here and making the game a success. That is where you or your business can help.

The Wounded Warrior/Snowhawks game committee is seeking donations from individuals and companies to help cover the more than $35,000 cost to provide transportation, lodging and field prep work to make this game possible.

Sponsors will be broken into levels and will receive recognition for their donation at the game and on promotional materials.

The Wounded Warrior team flies in from all around the country and will be housed through donation at the American Legion Camp.

In addition, a cash raffle will be held with a chance to win $5000 in total prizes. Tickets can be purchased at area businesses.

The Snowshoe game will be held July 25 at 7:30 in Lake Tomahawk at the Snowshoe Diamond. The double header will be held July 26 at noon at the Lakeland Union High School baseball diamond.
