Rhinelander Swim Club competes well at Phillips meet

Fifty-four Rhinelander Swim Club swimmers travelled to Phillips Jan. 4 to compete against six other area teams. Even after the holiday break, a number of young swimmers made an impressive start to the second half of the season.
Annika Benoy (15) took off 10.95 seconds from her 500 yard freestyle for a time of 6:17.47; Russell Benoy (12) took off 5.62 seconds from his 200 yard individual medley for a time of 2:48.87 and 5.60 seconds from his 200 yard freestyle for a time of 2:30.92; Benjamin Benton (5) dropped 8.07 seconds from his 25 yard Backstroke for a new time of 39.62 seconds; Hailey Choinski (7) took off 7.21 seconds from her 25 yard freestyle for a time of 35.56 seconds; Cooper Lindman (11) took off 6.14 seconds from his 100 yard individual medley for a time of 1:35.69; Tucker Lindman (9) dropped 30.93 seconds from his 100 yard breaststroke for a new time of 1:44.79; Nora Rutkowski (7) took off 7.02 seconds from her 25 yard backstroke for a time of 29.78 seconds; Sam Rutkowski (10) took off 10.11 seconds from his 50 yard freestyle with a time of 48.19 seconds and 8.40 seconds from the 50 yard breaststroke for a time of 57.49 seconds; Annalyse Schoppe (8) took off 5.00 seconds from her 100 yard individual medley with a time of 2:03.10; Liana Teter (9) dropped 5.10 seconds from her 50 yard breaststroke for a time of 1:03.23; AnnaMarie Wood (10) dropped 12.90 seconds from her 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.13; and Garrett Younker (7) took off 7.70 seconds from his 25 yard freestyle for a new time of 33.98 seconds.
RSC will host its Freezin’ Season Invitational Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Rhinelander High School pool and will travel to Lakeland High School Jan. 18 for the last conference of the season before divisional and championship meets.
