Viewpoint: Group provides food to pets in need
Editor:
It all began Feb. 4, 1982 when a small group of concerned citizens joined hands to help raise funds for the present animal shelter. We became known as F.R.A.S. or the “Friends.” Our dream became reality when the new shelter was dedicated Oct. 11, 1986 but we didn’t stop our humane mission.
It’s been quite a journey and over the years we’ve seen many great organizations and individuals working to help our furry friends. It makes a difference. Remember, “If you cannot do great things, you can do small things with great love.” (Mother Theresa)
F.R.A.S. has been managing, supplying and stocking the pet section of the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry since they opened in April of 2005. We also provide pet food in emergency situations. For a limited time, we are sponsoring a program to help spay/neuter cats. The only requirement is that they live in Oneida County and are on disability, food stamps, food pantry, etc. They only co-pay $5 and we pay the difference. Surgeries are done by The Fix Is In. For more information, call 715-362-7382.
F.R.A.S. would like to thank everyone who made our 2013 journey possible…The individuals and organizations who donated funds, pet food and miscellaneous items, weight circles and services. May your blessings be many in the New Year.
Marilyn Tober, F.R.A.S. Treasurer
