The 2014 Snowshoe Hare will be held Jan. 11 at Holiday Acres in Rhinelander. This fun filled event organized by the Rhinelander Area Silent Trails Association (RASTA) includes 5K (walk/run), and 10K races as well as a free kids race.

Registration opens at 9 a.m. and the races start at 10:30. Registration fee is $25; $30 after Jan. 3. Registration can be done online at www.Active.com, or by printing and mailing the registration form available at www.RASTAtrails.org. Awards will be given for winners in age groups, as well as overall winners. A chili lunch is included in the registration.

“This is a great way to kick off the New Year, enjoy a great winter activity, and this year we have so much more snow,” race planner Mary Lucas said.
The Snowshoe Hare race helps to raise money that stays in the local Rhinelander community going toward trail maintenance and cross-country ski trail grooming. Rhinelander Area Silent Trails Association is a nonprofit group that promotes the responsible use of lands open to the public for the enjoyment of all. The race is possible in part due to generous local sponsors.

More information about the race or RASTA please visit www.rastatrails.org, or call Mary Lucas at 715-360-3647.
