The YMCA of the Northwoods prepares for the Fit For Life Program
Beginning January through Feb. 10, 2014, the YMCA of the Northwoods will begin accepting applications for the Fit for Life Lifestyle Change program.
The Fit for Life weight loss Competition is a 12-week structured exercise program with weekly workouts, two personal training sessions, weekly challenges, weigh-ins, body composition analysis and lifestyle lectures. It takes place from February through May.
The winners will be the male and female with the greatest percentage weight loss during the 12 weeks. Last year’s winner lost 44 pounds during the course of the 12 weeks.
As a group of 11, the participants lost nearly 200 pounds. Through this program, participants are given the tools to make successful long-term changes in their health and well-being.
“The Fit for Life program has created results year after year, and with subtle changes to the program we are able to see continued success and most importantly results.” Chris Cook, wellness director, said. “Even though the program is geared towards a weight loss program, it’s more a program which gives you the building blocks to create a healthy lifestyle routine and build relationships that last well beyond the timelines of the program.”
Applications are available at the YMCA of the Northwoods and online beginning Jan. 1. They are due no later than Thursday, Feb. 10, 2014. Enrollment is limited to 25.
