Rhinelander Swim Club swims well during busy week
On Dec. 14, the Rhinelander Swim Club hosted its first home meet of the season welcoming the Bayfield Area Swim Team and the Phillips Wave Swim Team. Ninety-one RSC swimmers took to the pool to show family and friends what they could do.
Jack Antonuk (9) took 6.57 seconds from his 100 yard IM for a time of 1:37.4; Miranda Erdmann (12) took 5.42 seconds from her 200 yard IM for a time of 2:46.93 and 6.96 seconds from her 100 yard freestyle for a new time of 1:09.97; Mathias Fugle (7) took 5.82 seconds from his 25 yard freestyle for a time of 24.66 seconds; Tucker Lindman (9) dropped 14.77 seconds in his 100 yard freestyle for a time of 1:31.78; Sarah Marshall (7) took off 8.10 seconds in her 25 yard backstroke for a new time of 30.56 seconds; Tazia Oxendine (9) dropped 11.99 seconds from her 50 yard freestyle for a time of 53.79 seconds; Alexandra Pond (13) dropped 17.82 seconds from her 200 yard freestyle for a new time of 2.37.23; Kody Price (12) took off 12.91 seconds from his 100 yard freestyle for a time of 1:35.39; Sam Rutkowski (10) dropped 9.33 seconds from the 100 yard freestyle for a time of 1:48.57, 7.60 seconds from the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.96 and 17.00 seconds from his 50 yard breaststroke for a time of 1:05.89; Will Rutkowski (10) took 8.09 seconds from his 50yard breaststroke with a time of 55.06 seconds; and Carly Seidl (14) took off 10.42 seconds from her 100 yard breaststroke for a time of 1:35.17.
Six RSC swimmers also traveled to Wausau Dec. 15 to participate in the Wausau Tide Winter Open. This meet was a two day meet held at the Horace Mann Middle School. Russell Benoy, Miranda Erdmann, Charlie Heck, Grace Heck, Joseph Heck and Taylor Hollands joined up with the Northern Lakes Aquatic Club (NLAC) and other Northern Wisconsin Swimmers. Russell Benoy swam both Saturday and Sunday which earned him a third place in the high points standing. Russell swam nine events between both days finishing sixth or better in all events.
