A program of organ music at Christmas
Saint Augustine’s Church is welcoming Sarah Marx as their organist Sunday, Dec. 29. The program of organ music begins at 3 p.m. with a reception following at 4 p.m. in the Guild Hall at 39 South Pelham. The program will be emceed by WXPR Midday Classics host Linda Hutchinson.
“Saint Augustine’s is very pleased Sarah will be sharing her musical talent with the congregation. We’re inviting the community to join us for this program,” the Rev. Dean Einerson said.
Sarah has been playing the organ for more than 20 years. She studied under Dr. Shirley Sands in Eau Claire and Dr. John Behnke at Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon.
“I find the organ a challenging yet enjoyable instrument to play,” Marx said. “I feel that music is sacred and has an important place as part of the worship service. It is spiritual; it can tell a story; it allows parishioners to reflect; it encourages congregations to participate and sing; and it allows everyone to celebrate. Most of all, playing the organ brings me joy and I enjoy sharing my musical talents with the congregation.”
