The Rhinelander-Northwoods Branch of the American Association of University Women raises money every year to provide financial support and mentoring to young women from the area who are in need of financial aid in order to complete their education at an accredited college/university.

Focus for the 2013-2014 academic year is on women who plan to work in science, technology, engineering, or math.

This year’s scholarship recipients are Roberta Apfel, enrolled in the nursing program at Nicolet Area Technical College, and Lane Rheberg, enrolled in the University Transfer Liberal Arts, Associate of Science program.

Roberta’s eventual goal is to to be a surgical nurse, and Lane, a pharmacist.

The Rhinelander-Northwoods Branch of AAUW is part of a national network of organizations whose mission is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education philanthropy and research.
