Pine Grove Community Church encourages participation in Operation Christmas Child
Pine Grove Community Church has participated in Operation Christmas Child since 2002. Operation Christmas Child is where an individual may choose a boy or girl in a variety of age categories, fills an empty shoe box with toys, school supplies, hygiene items and may even include a personal note or letter that are shipped all over the world to needy children.
A small fee is requested to help cover the cost of shipping the boxes. Because of an online donation feature, once the shoe box is delivered, the donor may follow his/her box to its destination.
Pine Grove Community Church encourages individuals and families to participate as a fun, practical and hands-on way to think and help meet the needs of those in very desperate situations around the world and in the US.
Pine Grove Community Church collected the gift-filled boxes for several weeks until the deadline of Sunday, Nov. 10. On Thursday, Nov. 14, church volunteers Jim and Diane Mogg, packed their personal vehicle with all of the collected boxes (total of 202 shoe boxes) and delivered them to the local drop off center in Crandon. The boxes then travel to one of the seven regional Processing Centers.
This year, Pine Grove Community Church will be sending a team of volunteers in December to the Processing Center in Minneapolis to directly prepare the boxes for shipment overseas.
