World Run Day was founded to celebrate the sport of running worldwide and will be celebrated Sunday, Nov. 10. By gaining awareness through a worldwide celebration, communities can educate their residents on the health benefits of running and secure a healthy future for both young and old.

Physical activity has many health benefits. According to the CDC, regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health. It can help:
Control weight
Reduce risk of cardiovascular disease
Reduce risk for type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome
Reduce risk of some cancers
Strengthen bones and muscles
Improve mental health and mood
Improve ability to do daily activities and prevent falls for older adult
Increase chances of living longer

To honor the goals of World Run Day, Northwoods LEAN (Linking Education, Activity, and Nutrition) will be holding an Ipod giveaway. Just log 30 or minutes of walking or running Nov. 10 in the Northwoods LEAN survey.

The survey can be found on the following sites:
www.surveymonkey.com/s/VLTMCNZ
www.facebook.com/NorthwoodsLean
northwoodslean.org/
oneidacountypublichealth.org/

A winner will be drawn for an Ipod Shuffle.

Northwoods LEAN (Linking Education, Activity, and Nutrition) is a coalition that promotes a culture of healthy living through physical activity and nutrition in Oneida and Vilas Counties. For more information or to participate in the program, call Kyla Waksmonski at 715-369-6114 or email [email protected]
