Obituary: DeMar B. Meyer

DeMar B. Meyer, 94, of Rhinelander, passed away Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born July 13, 1919, in Rhinelander to Richard and Hazel Meyer. DeMar married Helen McKenzie Aug. 17, 1940. He served in the United States Navy during World War 11 as a ship’s gunner, deployed from the base in Pearl Harbor. DeMar is survived by three daughters, Karen (John) Bruyette, Judy (Jeff) Lund, and Linda (Greg) Herrmann, all of Rhinelander; a daughter-in-law, Anne Meyer of Rhinelander; nine grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen on June 12, 2001; his son, Michael Meyer on Sept. 18, 2013; a great granddaughter, MaKayla; and a brother, Donald. Graveside services for DeMar will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at Forest Home Cemetery in Rhinelander with Chaplain John Uhlarik officiating. Carlson Funeral Home is assisting DeMar’s family with arrangements and condolences may be forwarded at www.carlsonfh.com.
