Rhinelander ArtStart will host Zombie Prom

Rhinelander ArtStart will host Zombie Prom Friday, Oct. 25, at the ArtStart Gallery. The event is the third annual “prom” sponsored by ArtStart, and the theme follows a popular trend sweeping the country.

“Zombies are all the rage now,” development director Laura Ehmann said. “They are appearing on television, in the movies, and there is even a musical called ‘Zombie Prom.’ This is also a great way to usher in the Hallowe’en season.”

Non-profit organizations in Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco and other communities have hosted Zombie Proms “to raise money and just to have fun,” Ehmann said.

Dress for the Rhinelander event is not limited to the Zombie theme. “Just wear whatever costume you decide to wear for Hallowe’en, and add a bit of ‘zombie’ to it,” she suggests. “Free zombie makeovers (by ArtStart staff) will be offered at the Zombie Prom.” Since the event is also a “prom”, formal attire is also appropriate.

Doors will open at the Rhinelander ArtStart Gallery, 68 S. Stevens St., at 7 p.m. The event, which runs until 10 p.m., includes a complimentary snack buffet and a cash bar will be available.

Admission to the Zombie Prom is by donation to ArtStart.
