Obituary: Mathilda ?Tillie? M. Gardner

Mathilda “Tillie” M. Gardner, 97, of Rhinelander, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at Taylor Park Nursing Home surrounded by her loved family. She was born May 25, 1916, to Joseph and Mary (Hocker) Schmid in Medford. Tillie is survived by her sons, Dale and Ken (Sandy) Gardner, both of Rhinelander; a daughter, Janet (Bill) Jolin of Rhinelander; daughter-in-law, Sharon VonVeghel of Sheboygan; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louie in 2001; a son, Bob Gardner in 1987; a daughter, Barbara Ann Bianco in 1997; a daughter-in-law, Sallie Gardner in 1999; brothers, Tony, Bill, Jack, Charlie and Robert; and sisters Kate, Frances and Agnes. A mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. at the Nativity of Our Lord – St. Mary’s site with the Rev. Tom Thakadipuram. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home and also on Monday at the Church at 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. All are invited to light a candle and leave an online condolence at hildebrandfh.com. Memorial has been established in Tillie’s name and maybe given to her family.
