Creating just the right space

Have you ever wanted a room to look a certain way but were unsure how to make it happen? Do paint colors, furniture placement or flooring options leave you perplexed and confused? Have you ever thought of hiring an interior designer but thought it was a luxury only for the wealthy?
Laura Rose of Laura Rose Interiors can help and no matter what the budget, she can turn a drab or uninteresting room, home or business, into a place that reflects the interests and character of any client. “Many times I find that people are afraid they’ll make mistakes when changing or updating their decor,” she said. “Even if it’s changing the color of a wall or purchasing a new sofa, it can be expensive without the right perspective.”
Laura has more than 15 years experience as an interior designer. She graduated with a Fine Arts degree in Interior Design from Milwaukee Area Technical College. For several years she worked at Quad Graphics in Milwaukee designing such interiors as office spaces, conference rooms and daycare areas. Pharmacies and medical clinics are also part of her resume.
She started her own business in the Fox Valley Area in 2007. Two years ago, Laura moved her company to the Northwoods, specializing in home and business decor, whether that’s a one room makeover, a remodeling project or an entirely new home or workspace.
“My belief is that a home should be a place that is a refuge, a retreat where people can relax and feel a sense of peace,” she said. “I listen very closely to what a client wants so that we can work together to make their home a welcoming and inviting place. Everyone needs a place they can go to feel good.”
Many people find redecorating an entire home overwhelming, but even a one room makeover done with professional advice and expertise can make a difference in the mood of a home, and its occupants. Laura is knowledgeable about different decorating styles, whether that’s a western motif; a Northwoods style, a modern and sleek look or even in the ways of feng shui.
To determine what style a client feels most comfortable with, Laura provides a free first time consultation. And even for those transitioning, or even renting, Laura can help make their space more inviting too. “Sometimes people will be saving up for a big item like a leather sofa but what about in the meantime?” she said. “Decorating doesn’t have to be put on hold.”
She can also work around a favorite piece of furniture and she knows the value and pay offs of staging a home or apartment that is for sale or rent. Laura keeps abreast of new and innovative products that come into the market including flooring, window treatments and fabrics. She can also recommend painters and reliable carpenters for home repair projects, however, leaving room for those who are willing to add a little elbow grease to their own projects.
Laura is also willing to do one time consultations for a fee, offering advice and her expertise on paint colors for any living space.
With the days getting longer and winter right around the corner, now is a good time to reevaluate indoors spaces to make them more inviting and welcoming.
“Most of the time, changes don’t have to be expensive or drastic,” Laura said. “Even little steps can make a big difference.”
