Viewpoint: Politicians need to return to serving the people, not themselves
Editor:
How long are we the people going to allow our elected officials to control us and to serve themselves and their parties first only to throw us pieces of the choice cuts to keep us quiet with a false feeling of satisfaction. Our politicians are out of control and no longer serve the will of the people. Whether you favor the end result or not, the majority of the voting public did not elect to end collective bargaining. The voting mass did not request school vouchers or to cut the red tape and obstacles to give the green light to the taconite mine. They avoided to have an open discussion with opposition. The allegiance is not to the voting public but to their self, corporate and party interest. The fact that we put them in office and pay their salaries has no consequences. They are playing the shell game with a trusting and apathetic audience in which they always come out on top as the winner and they are using our tax dollars as their stake.
It is time to shake the political tree with intolerant enthusiasm to detach the rotten apples..
We have to return our government to the ideals of our forefathers.
A Government by the people and for the people. A government that reflects fair play and fair share. Above all, an allegiance to the people and the flag for which she stands..
Food for thought.
