The UW-Stout Manufacturing Outreach Center (MOC) is providing small- and medium-sized manufacturers an opportunity to compare themselves to similar manufacturers in key strategic areas for Next Generation Manufacturing by participating in the 2013 Next Generation Manufacturing (NGM) Study.
The NGM Study, also conducted in 2009 and 2011, gives manufacturers in Wisconsin and across the nation an opportunity to achieve success in the next generation by offering strategies that can help them capture competitive advantages, best practices to support execution of those strategies and performance goals against which to measure their progress.
Manufacturing executives can participate in the NGM Study by completing a free, quick and confidential online survey. After completing the survey, manufacturers receive a free performance report or “score card” that describes how they rank against world-class performance benchmarks and targets improvements where needed. Study results help state and federal stakeholders develop and implement policies and programs to support successful Next Generation Manufacturing in Wisconsin in the coming years.
The NGM Study is part of a national research effort coordinated by the American Small Manufacturers Coalition (ASMC), the Association for Manufacturing Excellence, in partnership with UW-Stout MOC and MEP centers across the nation. The study is conducted by the Manufacturing Performance Institute Group (MPI), a global research firm and thought leader on manufacturing performance, management and customer value.
Participation in the survey is free and respondents are not required to share financial information. For more information, visit ngmstudy.com.
UW-Stout Manufacturing Outreach Center, under the Discovery Center umbrella at UW-Stout, is a partner in the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP). The UW-Stout MOC and their NIST MEP affiliates work with small and mid-sized U.S. manufacturers to help them create and retain jobs, increase profits, and save time and money. Last year, through third-party independent surveying, clients reported more than $13.9 million in impacts and 123 jobs created or saved as a result of UW-Stout MOC services. The UW-Stout MOC provides these services to manufacturers in 33 counties in northern and western Wisconsin to help them compete in a global economy.
