Shooter, victim identified in Rhinelander Mason Street incident
The Rhinelander Police Department Wednesday referred 23-year-old Marcus L. Alsteens to the Oneida County District Attorney’s office regarding an incident that occurred Monday night at a Mason Street residence that left one man in critical condition.
Alsteens allegedly shot his uncle, Justin F. Alsteens, in the abdomen with a long gun and then fled the premises. Marcus Alsteens was later arrested on Highway 17.
Marcus Alsteens could face charges of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide (attempted), 1st Degree Reckless Homicide (attempted), Battery (aggravated) – Intend to Cause Great Bodily Harm, 1st Degree Recklessly Endanger Safety, Injury to Another by Negligent Use of Dangerous Weapon, and Domestic Abuse.
He is scheduled to appear by video in Oneida County Circuit Court Wednesday at 1:15 p.m.
Justin Alsteens, 49, remains in critical condition at a Marshfield hospital according to a press release from the Rhinelander Police Department.
