A half dozen area food pantries recently received donations from the money raised at the Empty Bowls event held earlier this year at Nicolet College. In all, Empty Bowls raised $2,444 and each organization received $407.

The fundraising event at Nicolet consisted of a meal of soup and bread served in hand-made bowls, which those attending got to keep.

Area potters volunteered their time to make more than 200 bowls for the event and Nicolet College Culinary Arts students prepared the meal.

Along with Wind-Norton, others from the Nicolet Faculty Association who volunteered included Ethan Blue, Barb Buckel, Joel DeNamur, Paul Ehlers, Jolene Johnson Vanden Elzen, Ocie Kilgus, Kari Krueger, Vicki Mendham, Mark Nebgen, and Mike Umlor. Other Nicolet volunteers included Vicki Severson, Julie Frederickson, Bob Kanyusik, and Rose Prunty.
