Rhinelander PotatoFest contests and events

There will be more than 15 fun potato things to do at PotatoFest in downtown Rhinelander Aug. 31, but some do require preregistration. Anyone interested in the activities listed below may log on to downtownrhinelander.com and click on the PotatoFest logo to review the details and obtain a registration form.

• Litl Miss & Mr. Potato Sack Outfit Contest: Potato sack outfit creation contest for kids 5 to 10 years old

• YMCA Couch Potato Race: Put wheels on a couch and soar. Log on to ymcaofthenorthwoods.org for more information

• Mashed potato eating contest: Must be over 18 years old

• French fry eating contest: Must be over 18 years old

• Tasty Taters potato salad contest: Only 10 entries will be accepted, and entries must be made in a commercial kitchen. Entries are eligible for the People’s Choice award

• Potato & Hodag Tall Tales Telling Contest: Youth, adults, individuals or groups; five-minute time slot

The Tater Tot Parade will be held for children under 10 years of age. Participants may pre-register, but it is not necessary.
