Obituary: Shirley A. Collier

Shirley A. Collier, 78, Rhinelander, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston. She was born May 22, 1935, in Hawkins, Wis. to Horace and Beatrice Knutson. Shirley married Gerald Collier Febr. 23, 1952, in Rhinelander. In addition to raising her family, she held various jobs before pursuing a career in real estate. Shirley operated her own sales office and later joined Rhinelander Reality as a broker/agent, serving many clients over the years. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Shirley was an accomplished cook and enjoyed cross-stitch and following politics. Shirley is survived by her husband, Gerry Collier of Rhinelander; her daughter, Sherry (Dennis) Crossley of Sheboygan, WI; and two grandchildren, Thomas Collier Crossley and Amanda Margaret Crossley. She is also survived by many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Robert Collier on March 4, 1994. Funeral services for Shirley will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Anne Wahlers officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at the Carlson Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in the Forest Home Cemetery.
