The inaugural WILD Hodag Mini Triathlon will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, at Holiday Acres Resort. The proceeds from this event will go toward the leadership development program known as WILD.

The triathlon course will consist of a 300-yard swim, 10k bike ride and a 5k run, all winding through the beautiful scenery of the Northwoods.

Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. with the race kicking off at 8 a.m. This first year it is anticipated that close to 100 racers will compete.

Participants may compete either as individuals or as teams. The cost for the event is $65 for an individual or $50 per team member until Aug. 22. On Aug. 22, the cost will go up to $85 for an individual and $70 per team member. Advance registration is now being accepted online at HodagTriathlon.com.

Proceeds will go to support Wise International Leadership Development (WILD). WILD is an interdenominational, international organization striving to teach Biblical leadership principals to leaders of all ages. Since 2004, WILD has held training in many locations including Zambia, Liberia and Nepal. WILD was founded 15 years ago through the local youth ministry Headwaters Christian Youth.

Several dozen volunteers are needed to help coordinate the event. Those interested in volunteering may call Tim Thorsen at (715) 365-5252 or log on to the website and click on “Volunteer.”
