Registration is open for the YMCA of the Northwoods’ 13th annual Y Scramble golf event.

The four-person best ball scramble takes place Friday, July 19, at Pinewood Country Club. The entry fee is $85 per person and includes 18 holes, cart, lunch and dinner.

The event includes lucrative hole-in-one awards, including a vehicle from Rhinelander GM. Auction items include a custom designed piece by Wickersham Jewelry, cash and miscellaneous door prizes provided by local businesses and organizations.

“We are grateful to the area businesses and volunteers who make this event successful,” said Laurie Schlitt, YMCA Interim CEO. “The funds raised at this event allow the YMCA of the Northwoods to subsidize membership and programming. It also funds our LiveSTRONG at the YMCA program that is free to cancer survivors. These subsidies present an opportunity to those who could not afford to participate in all of our wonderful activities.”

Once again, the big attraction is the helicopter golf ball drop with the chance of winning $3,000. Up to 600 golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter onto the golf course and the numbered ball closest to the pin will win the 50/50 pot. The other half is donated to the Strong Kids Campaign. Second place prize will be an annual YMCA family membership. Third prize is an annual YMCA adult membership.

Golf ball drop tickets are on sale at the YMCA of the Northwoods and Pinewood Country Club for $10 per ball; entrants need not be present to win.

All proceeds go to the YMCA’s Strong Kids campaign, a financial assistance program which allows children to participate in YMCA programs who could not otherwise afford to do so.

In addition to the YMCA, the event is sponsored by Ministry Heath Care, One Prospect, the Hodag Buyers’ Guide and Star Journal, Pinewood Country Club, Rhinelander GM, Wickersham Jewelry, Coca-Cola Enterprises, Mid-Wisconsin Beverage and Walmart.

To register or for more information, call the YMCA at (715) 362-9622.
