Marshfield Clinic Woodruff Center to host free Olympic Day
Marshfield Clinic Woodruff Center will host an Olympic Day event on June 29 that will feature two world-class Olympic athletes.
Eric Mueller, a silver medalist rower in the 1996 Olympics, and Igor Badamshin, a Russian Olympian who competed in cross-country skiing, will attend the event.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include a free 5K fun run/walk, a 3K walk, a children’s 1K fun run and children’s obstacle course.
A variety of free games and activities will be available for families following the runs and walks. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with the 3K and 5K runs beginning at 9 a.m.
Free activities include gymnastics, martial arts, soccer, paddling and a laser biathlon. A synthetic ice system new to the event this year will allow for a curling demo and hockey drills.
Families are encouraged to join the celebration, which promotes fitness and health. The event supports the Olympic ideals of fair play, perseverance, sportsmanship and respect.
All who attend the event will be asked to sign an Olympic flag. Participation certificates will be available.
