The Oneida County Humane Society will be hosting Hike for Homeless Pets on Sunday, June 23. The public is welcome to enjoy a beautiful trail, a fun time with friends, family and pets and help the animals at the Humane Society. A commemorative hike t-shirt will be awarded to those who collect $20 or more in donations or pledges. Prizes will be awarded to those who raise the most money as follows: 1st prize: horseback riding at the Rock Falls Riding Stable and lunch for four at the Thirsty Whale; 2nd prize: family bike rental from BJ’s Sport Shop and ice cream certificates; 3rd prize: $25 gift certificate from Mel’s Trading Post, water bottle and treats. All participating pets will receive a free bandana.

The event will take place on Sunday, June 23 at the McNaughton Trail from 1 to 4 p.m., rain or shine. Participants are encouraged to bring leashed pets, favorite insect repellent, water bottle and waste bag. Hikes vary in length, ranging from one mile to 5.5 miles. The McNaughton Trail is three miles north of McNaughton on Hwy. 47 on Killdare Road. Restroom facilities are available.

Pledge forms may be downloaded at ochspets.org and at the Oneida County Humane Society Adoption Center at 1852 N. Stevens Street in Rhinelander. All proceeds from the event will benefit the animals waiting for new families at the Adoption Center.
