Business Closeup: Big changes for Days Inn and Suites
There’s a new name on an old business in downtown Rhinelander. The Claridge Inn became a Days Inn and Suites last December. Wyndham Hotels owns this franchise, along with 13 other brands, and that fact is proving to be a positive advancement for this popular hotel.
“One of the reasons we have seen an increase in visitors is because of the reward programs that are out there right now,” said Ed Orlikowski, manager. “Those are big today, especially for people who travel a lot.”
Tom and Janet DeByle have owned this hotel that has been part of the downtown Rhinelander landscape since 1962. This Days Inn has 83 rooms and eight long-term suites, which are totally furnished, including washers and dryers. “These have proven to be very popular and we are planning on creating more,” said Ed.
Room choices include those with one queen bed, two queen beds or a king- size bed. Days Inn also has a pool and a fitness room, which will be tripled in size very soon.
One aspect of this popular destination that hasn’t changed too much is the Claridge Restaurant. The Friday fish fry still remains one of the best in town and every day over the lunch hour there is a full salad bar with a soup choice. There is also a full menu that includes many favorites like burgers, salads and desserts. The bar next to the restaurant is also a popular place to relax. Every day from 4 to 6 p.m. is happy hour with reduced drink prices and free popcorn. Breakfast is also served here every day.
With a restaurant and bar, the Days Inn offers a lot to weary travelers or visitors to the area. Located in downtown Rhinelander, guests can make this hotel a one-stop destination. “Once you get here, you really don’t have to drive to find something to do,” said Ed. “The downtown area offers a lot.”
There is also a cozy fireplace in the lobby area with plenty of comfortable sofas and chairs for those wishing to visit, and the staff is friendly and helpful. This facility also offers eight banquet rooms of various sizes, including one that can accommodate 110 people if need be.
The Days Inn and Suites is open 24 hours, seven days a week. The restaurant is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and then reopens from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays. It’s open until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
The Days Inn is located at 70 N. Stevens St. in Rhinelander. The phone number is (715) 362-7100 and the website address is [email protected]. The Claridge Restaurant also has a Facebook page.
