Northwoods teen wins Martial Arts competition
Autumn Lyons of Crandon recently participated in the World Organization of Martial Arts (WOMAA) annual Mi/Wi World Championship Qualifier tournament, where she earned a gold medal in forms, a silver medal in sparring and a victory medal in the forms Grand Championship. Autumn will compete in Dublin, Ireland, in August at the WOMAA World Martial Arts Games XIV as part of Team America, the U.S. team in the competition. She is also qualified to go to the games next year as well.
Autumn has participated in martial arts since the age of 5 as a student of Sensei Albert Klaver of Rhinelander at the Go-Shin Karate studio. She participated in the Badger State Games in 2008 and brought home a gold medal in forms and a silver medal in sparring. She currently has a purple belt and is working to achieve a brown belt this summer.
