Obituary: Lillian J. Shefchik

Lillian J. Shefchik, 92, of Rhinelander, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at Friendly Village. She was born April 13, 1921, in Loyal to John and Clara (Nowak) Bannach. She is survived by four children, Joseph (Eileen) Shefchik of Snellville, Ga., Marilyn (Eugene) Meirhofer of Rhinelander, Theresa (Ted) Gallenberger of Wauwatosa and Jerry Shefchik of Rhinelander; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; a son, Francis James; three sisters, Clara Becker, Mary Helen Sanders and Loretta Cowles; and two brothers, John and George Bannach. She served as a Registered Nurse in the Army Air Corps from 1944 until 1947. She was a Registered Nurse for 40 years at Saint Mary’s Hospital until her retirement in 1986. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, May 23, at Carlson Funeral Home with Fr. Tom Thakadipuram officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Nativity Catholic Cemetery. (Carlson Funeral Home)
