Rhinelander will host the Hodag Memorial Invitational Youth Baseball Tournament May 24-26. The tournament will have four age divisions, with players ranging from ages 9 to 12 years old.

As an annual tradition, parents and local players collaborate with city parks employees on Friday afternoon and evening in getting the field ready for hosting this event. Parents volunteer their time to assist in getting the field and grounds at Hodag Park in tip-top shape.

Games begin Saturday at 9 a.m. and will finish that day at around 8 p.m. Play continues Sunday with the same format. Games are played at both Mel Mode Field and the Minor Field. Twenty-four games will be played over the two-day tournament.

In all, 17 teams will participate. A record 14 out-of-town teams will take part. There will be three Rhinelander traveling teams playing. In addition to teams from northern and central Wisconsin, there will be multiple teams from the Fox Valley area.

Many of the teams spend Memorial Day weekend in Rhinelander, dining out, lodging and shopping. Any local businesses interested in sponsorship for the tournament or for Rhinelander Youth Traveling Baseball may contact Paul Johnson at (715) 282-6808.
