Paula Jean (nee Hoekstra) Fawley, of Rhinelander, was born on May 21, 1954, the daughter of the late Robert and Bernadine Hoekstra. Paula was the wife of Terry Fawley, mother of Taylor Fawley, sister of Mary (Greg) Wolf of Shoreview, MN, Julie Bruyette of Rhinelander, and of the late Steve Hoekstra of Weston. In addition to her parents and brother, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Larry Bruyette.

Paula was an aunt to many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed many family gatherings and time spent in Arizona.

Paula was an avid spectator for all of Taylor’s sporting events. She journaled Taylor’s life from the time he was born to the age of 18.

Paula enjoyed many things in life. For 30 years, she shared her love for teaching children in her career as an elementary teacher and reading specialist. She enjoyed shopping trips with the “girls,” collecting and antiques.

At home, Paula spent hours on landscaping, gardening, crafts and time by the lake. Paula’s passion for restoration can be seen throughout the design of her home. Paula could envision the impossible and would never hear the words “It can’t be done” or “That’s good enough.”

Paula began her eternal life on May 8, 2013, at the age of 58. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and colleagues.

Funeral services for Paula will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) in Rhinelander with Rev. Alex Lindsay officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Forest Home Cemetery in Wittenberg at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2013.
