Obituary: James R. Pelletier
James R. Pelletier, 91, of Rhinelander died Friday, April 26, 2013, at Saint Mary’s Hospital. He was born March 11, 1922, in Rhinelander to Joseph and Fern (Ruggles) Pelletier. He is survived by his wife Eunice (nee Jacobson); daughters Barbara (Robert) Thompson of Rhinelander, Donna (Stephen) Summers of Sherwood and Mary (William) Haney of Kenosha; a son, James Pelletier of Rhinelander; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Clark of Rhinelander; and a brother, William (Beatrice) Pelletier of Sarasota, Fla. He was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Ammerman, and a great-granddaughter, Maya. He served during WW II with the 110th Infantry/28th Division and was captured in the Battle of the Bulge. He was liberated in April of 1945. In 2007, he was presented with the French Legion of Honor Award for his efforts in liberating France. When he returned home, he resumed employment at Rhinelander Paper Company and worked there until his retirement in 1984. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church with Fr. Dean Einerson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Carlson Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until just prior to the services at the church Thursday. Entombment will be in the Northland Garden Mausoleum. A memorial is being established in his name for St. Augustine Episcopal Church. (Carlson Funeral Home)
