The YMCA of the Northwoods has appointed Laurie Schlitt, Associate Executive Director, as the Interim CEO for a two year term.
“The YMCA Board of Directors is extremely pleased with operations over the past six months. We fully support the direction and leadership that Laurie Schlitt models,” says YMCA of the Northwoods Board of Directors President, Wendy M. Henrichs, DC, DICCP.
In 2007 Schlitt started at the YMCA of the Northwoods as Membership and Marketing Director and most currently served as Associate Executive Director since 2010. Schlitt then served on the leadership team managing operations for the YMCA of the Northwoods since September 2012.
In Schlitt’s tenure she raised membership 14% in her first year as Membership Director. She grew the annual Strong Kids Campaign Events over 25% as Associate Executive Director. Other developments under Schlitt’s leadership include increasing Board Member participation, restructuring group fitness classes to provide flexibility to participants, increasing membership after lowering dues, and opening the gymnastics studio. Schlitt also oversaw a successful new branding transition and strong collaborations with area organizations and corporations. Schlitt credits the staff and volunteers at the Y who are able to exemplify the mission and values to make all feel welcome.
Since joining the northwoods community her involvement has included Kiwanis, Womens Club, MOCK, and other various volunteer projects. Recently she has joined the Partners In Education Board of Directors and is an alumni of the Leadership Oneida County program.
“I am honored to accept the Interim CEO position and look forward to continuing the forward progress that I have been fortunate to witness and be part of over the last six years.” Schlitt says, “We have a strong leadership team and together we will make the transition seamless.”
