Obituary: Michael J. Baird

Michael J. Baird, age 62, of Rhinelander, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013, in Rhinelander. He was born February 23, 1951, in California to the late Donald and Norma (Huth) Baird. Mike joined the U.S. Army in 1970 and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal.
Mike worked as an underground utility locater for North States Utility Contractors in Eagle River. He truly enjoyed his job and the opportunity to work outside. He was a Green Bay Packers fan and motorcycle enthusiast. Mike cherished time spent with family and friends and was known by all of his friends as “Beard.”
Survivors include Mike’s special friend, Jean McNaughton of Rhinelander.
One son, Dustin Baird of Arkansas.
Two sisters, Gayle (Larry) Smelser of Yountville, CA, and Donna (Jim) Wilson of Salt Lake City, UT.
Mike is further survived by one grandson, Marshall, and many nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Beard’s life will be held Saturday, March 30, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Sacketts Bar and Grill, Rhinelander. Generations Funeral Home of Tomahawk is assisting the family.
