Northwoods Saves announces 2013 ?America Saves Weeks? campaign winners

Since 2004, Northwoods Saves has conducted an annual savings campaign during the month of February. Residents of Forest, Lincoln, Oneida and Vilas counties are encouraged to save by making deposits to either a new or existing account at one of 20 participating banks or credit unions.

Enrolled Northwoods AmericaSavers receive quarterly newsletters and monthly e-mails from financial experts providing savings strategies and tips to help them achieve their goals. They also have access to online member-only savings tools and calculators.

This year, 268 savers were enrolled and deposited more than $110,000. Since 2004, nearly $2.5 million has been saved by 2,465 “Savers” now enrolled as Northwoods America Savers.

The financial institution with the most Savers enrolled was CoVantage Credit Union in Crandon with 125 deposits for the AmericaSaves Weeks event. River Valley Bank had the most dollars saved, with nearly $40,000 deposited.

The following individuals won a Penny the Pig Savings Bank: Marianne Scholdfield, BMO Harris-ER/St. Germain/Three Lakes; Hannah Erdman, CoVantage Credit Union, Crandon; Zoe Theilman, CoVantage Credit Union, Rhinelander; Taylor Nichols, Mid Wisconsin, Minocqua; Sue Biermeier, Mid Wisconsin, Rhinelander; Andrew Koening, Park City Credit Union, Rhinelander; Jessica Jensen, River Valley Bank, Eagle River; and Matthew Daigle, Tomahawk Community Bank.

There was contest for the tellers who enrolled the most savers. The 1st prize winner was Whitney Beckingham of Covantage Credit Union in Crandon, for enrolling 70 savers. She won a makeover and facial from Dubl Digits in Rhinelander. The 2nd prize winner was Pam Hall of Covantage Credit Union in Rhinelander, for enrolling 27 savers. She won massage therapy from Distinctive Touch in Rhinelander.
